2016 McWhirter Graduate Research Symposium demonstrates graduate student achievements

The 2016 Penn State Chemical Engineering McWhirter Graduate Research Symposium was held Friday, September 16, at the Nittany Lion Inn.

The all-day event featured three oral presentation sessions; showcasing the work of over 20 graduate students from within the department, as well as a poster presentation session. Students had the opportunity to communicate research findings to an audience of peers, faculty members, and other representatives hailing from various disciplines within the Penn State scientific community.

The keynote speech was delivered by Penn State alumnus, David Latulippe (Ph.D. ’10), assistant professor of chemical engineering at McMaster University.

The symposium concluded with an award session recognizing the following individuals:

  • Best Talk – Joel Bombile
  • Best Paper – Saratram Gopalakrishnan
  • Best Candidacy – Jie Zha
