Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering

The doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in chemical engineering is a structured yet versatile program tailored to individual research interests. Students are challenged to become experts in their area of research, aiding advancements in areas such as:

  • nanotechnology,
  • and many others.

Our program is ideal for engineers who wish to gain an expert understanding of the principals and philosophies of chemical engineering and learn the skills to become confident and independent researchers. Strong interdisciplinary research ties at Penn State also allow students to interact with experts in nearly every field.

Financial support available

In addition, we offer full financial support to all Ph.D. students making satisfactory progress toward their degree. This financial package includes tuition and fees, a stipend for living expenses, and healthcare benefits.
