UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A group of approximately 60 Penn State chemical engineering alumni, current and emeritus faculty, along with both graduate and undergraduate students, gathered at the HUB Robeson Center September 23 and 24 for the Penn State Chemical Engineering Alumni Workshop.
The workshop was planned and organized by the Penn State ChE Alumni Program Group. It was designed to solicit ideas for tapping into the expertise and experiences of ChE alumni to add value to the Penn State chemical engineering program and student experience. The workshop included a tour of the new Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering Building, a variety of breakout sessions for idea generation, discussions on next steps and action items after the workshop, and a dinner at the Nittany Lion Inn.
“It was great to have so many of our alumni back on campus, and there were lots of ideas generated that will help us shape the best possible programs for our students,” said Phillip Savage, head of the Department of Chemical Engineering. “It was also a good time to catch up with old friends and make new ones.”
