UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Akanksha Gupta, graduate research assistant with the Department of Chemical Engineering, recently was presented with the Best Presentation Award for the Materials Research Society’s 2017 Electronic Materials Conference. The award was presented to Gupta on June 27 at the 2018 Electronic Materials Conference held at the University of California in Santa Barbara, CA. Gupta is co-advised by Esther Gomez, assistant professor of chemical engineering, and Thomas Jackson, the Robert E. Kirby Chair Professor of Electrical Engineering.
Gupta’s presentation, “Lipid Membrane and Zinc Oxide Thin-Film Transistor Based Biosensors,” focused on her work developing robust electronic biosensors that will help understand otherwise difficult-to-categorize membrane interactions.
Gupta holds a bachelor of technology degree in chemical engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli in India. She is currently a PhD candidate at Penn State and works in both the Gomez Lab in the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Jackson Electronic Research Group in the Department of Electrical Engineering.
