The Penn State Waltemeyer Department of Chemical Engineering, established in 1948, is one of the largest and most influential chemical engineering departments in the United States.

The department is built on fundamentals of academic integrity, innovation in research, and commitment to advancement of industry. We combine chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physics to solve some of today’s most pressing societal issues in human health, sustainability, and energy.

We offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs and aim to produce students with the capacity to emerge as the next generation of leaders in industry, research, academia, and beyond.
